 Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences has taken numerous steps to inculcate research culture among our students. We proudly claim to have one of the most research intensive curricula for undergraduates in the country. With all the facilities available in our campus, our students and faculty members are highly involved in scientific, inter-disciplinary and cross-professional research. Our University supports the research activity by providing funds and also recognizes the exemplary research work by the faculty and students by rewarding them with various awards.

hand and general surgery

Patient aged 42 years came with deformity in hand which was surgically corrected by tendon transfer surgery with post operative physiotherapy management deformity was corrected


Geriatric Physiotherapy

 Ramanadhan, 68 years old patient came with complaints of knee pain and had difficulty in walking for past 8 years. He also has fear of fall and dementia. He came to Saveetha medical college and hospital and was diagnosed with osteoarthritis of left knee. He was refered to physiotherapy department. Geriatric and palliative care physiotherapy department handed this case. He was followed up for 7 days with IFT and SWD along with knee rehabilitation exercises, For dementia cognitive training has been given. Fall prevention measures and dynamic balance training has been given. After 7 days patient walked without pain and fear of fall.


Orthopedic Post operative Management

A case of 45 year old male sustained Right shaft of tibia fracture on 06-062022. He has brought to the casualty and operated surgically by external fixation for the right shaft of tibia. Followed by the procedure, patient has got pain and restricted knee joint mobility. He has undergone intensive physiotherapy treatment protocol for 10 days through advanced joint mobilization approaches to his operated leg. He has shown marked improvement after physiotherapy treatment in aspect of knee joint mobility and muscle strength.


Neurological Physiotherapy - Brain Stem Infract

A 32-year-old female patient came with complaint of difficult in doing ADL activities, difficulty in walking and was diagnosed with brainstem infarct. She was referred to neuro physiotherapy department for further evaluation and treatment. She was provided with an 8th-week treatment session in which she was provided with bed mobility exercises, gait training, Swiss ball exercises and functional training. On progression the patient was able to stand and walk without support after 8 weeks of rehab session.


Exercise & Kinesiotherapy

A 20 year old track & field athlete came to exercise physiology and kinesiothearpy department for the assessment of body composition , we used the 7 site skin-fold measurements to measure body fat percentage , intercondlyer width of humerus and femur, shoulder and hip width was obtained by measuring between acromion process and ASIS respectively. Kin -anthropometry data was obtained and the athlete body composition was calculated using formulae of kin-anthropometry. Based on his anthropometric profile training schedule has been given to the athlete.


SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY

A case of 24-year-old football player with the history of a non-contact knee injury with minor complaints in clinical findings and MRI on the same day of his injury revealed the diagnosis of ACL and medial meniscal injury. He visited physiotherapy clinic after 8 days. Assessed by sports physiotherapist had the complaints of postero-lateral instability. Although patient manifested with postero-lateral instability, early symptoms were quite localized postero-lateral to joint. He had under gone intense accelerates rehabilitation program for 8 week , after which he had significantly improved on his Leg Symmetry Index, Balance , coordination and strength and power of injured leg.


CARDIO-VASCULAR PULMONARY PHYSIOTHERAPY

Renuka, 50yrs female patient came with complaints of breathlessness and pain over the Right breast. She came to Saveetha hospital and was diagnosed with Type II Respiratory Failure, Right side Mastitis, Type II Diabetes mellitus. She was also diagnosed with systemic hypertension 10 years back and is on regular medication. She was refered to cardiovascular and pulmonary physiotherapy and has been followed up for 5 days with ACBT, Incentive spirometry, Active range of motion exercise for bilateral upper limb and lower limb and functional training. After five days of training patient is now able to walk without oxygen support and doesn't show any signs of breathlessness, patient's functional status has improved.


CARDIO-VASCULAR postoperative management

Mr. Srinivasa Rao, 53 years old male, old patient came with complaints of abdominal discomfort swelling for past 2 months. Pain in the abdomen for past 1 month. He came to Saveetha medical college and hospital and was diagnosed with carcinoma stomach. He was referred to physiotherapy department for post-operative rehabilitation. Cardio and respiratory physiotherapy department handed this case. He was followed up with early mobilization, post-operative exercises, chest physiotherapy. After post-operative rehabilitation patient functional status was regained and patient was totally independent

Pediatric Physiotherapy

A 29 week Pre term baby admitted in NICU with a birth weight of 930grams with Meningitis, seizures and upper lung collapse. The baby was in mechanical ventilation, underwent intensive Chest Physiotherapy, Tactile stimulation and positioning. The baby gained weight of about 1200grams with stable vitals by the end of 2 weeks of Physiotherapy intervention.

Indian patent journal. We have published 11 Patents. Almost 90 % of our faculties have

published their patents.
